ABC Powder Extinguishers

Without a doubt the most popular and versatile extinguisher of all types of extinguishers. The ABC powder multi-use fire extinguisher contains a mixture of phosphate and ammonium to control Class A, B and C fires. This type of fire extinguisher has the advantage of being effective in most of the different fire initiation categories.

Its main method of extinguishment is summarized as follows: By its powder-based ABC composition, it can break the chain reaction of the triangle of fire, which means that the same extinguisher can smother the flame in the early stage of a fire.

Note that this type of extinguisher is an optimal choice to have in homes and many businesses, because of it’s ability to extinguish three types of fire (see below) quickly and efficiently when used properly.

CLASS A :

To extinguish solid combustible materials i.e. wood, paper and cardboard, fabrics, plastics and other materials found in this category. In contact with fire, this type of class A extinguishing agent, allows to smother it instantly.

CLASS B :

Extinguishes flammable liquids or gases i.e. gasoline, alcohol, oils, paint solvents and other flammable liquids. This extinguishing agent can destroy the chain reaction caused in this type of fire.

CLASS C :

Class C extinguishes live electrical equipment fires at a time when the non-conductivity of the extinguishing agent is of crucial importance, so it has the property of being completely non-conductive.

They are available in the following formats:
  • 2.5 lb ABC Class 1A:1BC (Equivalent to 1 gallon Type A Fire, Covers 1 square foot Class B Fire)
  • 5 lb ABC Class 3A:40BC (Equivalent to 3 gallons of Type A fire, covers 40 square feet of Class B fire)
  • 10 lb ABC Class 4A:80BC (Equivalent to 4 gallons of water on Type A fire, covers 80 square feet of Class B fire)
  • 20 lb ABC classification 10A:120BC (Equivalent to 10 gallons of water on Type A fire, covers 120 square feet of Class B fire)Extincteurs co2

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Extinguisher

The CO2-based fire extinguisher literally propels a cloud of CO2-based snow that has the effect of depriving the oxygen fire during its use. Although CO2 is at the base a gas held at -78 degrees Celsius in the extinguisher, it appears in the form of carbon dioxide snow at the time of the expulsion of it-This is due to the fact that it undergoes a drastic increase in its own temperature producing a chemical reaction thus making it solid (dry snow).

The C02 gas is odorless, safe for clothing, furniture, computer equipment and others. It is also the fire extinguisher of choice to protect the majority of the mechanical and/or electrical rooms of several buildings with large installations with motors or electric of any kind. Why? Simply because it allows among other things a greater ease to be cleaned and thus, at the same time, a faster reuse of these devices. In summary, once used the CO2 type extinguisher produces much less residue than a powder type ABC extinguisher for example.

The CO2-type fire extinguisher achieves its extinguishing efficiency by smothering all Type B lights in a precise way: It produces a thin layer of gas covering all flames and thus reduces the oxygen supply to zero. In this way the fire, having no oxygen to feed itself, is extinguished.

These CO2 extinguishers are the most efficient and versatile in their respective category. They are highly recommended mainly for several business sectors.
The CO2 gas extinguisher is used to extinguish fires from live electrical equipment and is also used in more specialized places such as first a ship, in laboratories and chemical plants.

They are available in the following formats:

  • 5lb CO2 Class 5BC (Covers 5 square feet of Type B light)
  • 10lb CO2 classification 10BC (Covers 10 square feet of Type B light)
  • 15lb CO2 classification 10BC (Covers 10 square feet of type B light)
  • 20lb ABC classification 10BC (Type B 10 square foot fire cover)

Remember that a fire goes out in the first minute with a glass of water, in the second with a bucket of water and in the third with a ton of water. It is better to be well equipped and advised regarding your needs of extinguishers to avoid any unpleasant surprises!

Type K Fire Extinguishers

Class K fire extinguishers are special purpose fire extinguishers, they specialize mainly in extinguishing cooking fires, vegetable oils, animal oils and fats. This extinguisher has a type of water-based liquid chemical extinguishing agent and low-ph potassium acetate, thus forming an aqueous solution specially designed for this type of fire.

Moreover, let us specify that the use of a class K extinguisher is very safe and responsible since it ensures, among other things, that you avoid the very dangerous chain reaction that produces water on boiling cooking oil, and thus at the same time allows you to stay safe during the extinction of your kitchen fire!

The extinguishing efficiency of the class K extinguisher is no longer to be proven, specialists and users of it are all unanimous in stating that it is by far the most appropriate and effective model in its category for this type of fire.

They are available in the following formats:

  • 6 litres (2 gallons and a half) K classification 1A:K (Equivalent to 1 gallon of water on type A, specialized against type K fire)
